EVERY ELEMENT IS EMOTIONAL
Ode #32 - Transcribed Poetic Dictation, e-Motive Ode
[I have an exciting talk coming up which I am thrilled to invite you all to, titled “POETRY OF THE DEPTHS” https://www.mainejungcenter.org/event-details-registration/poetry-of-the-depths-mystics-transcribes-psychologues-with-cybele-brandow (code FIREHORSE at checkout unlocks a 50% lower registration rate for my readers, friends&family) — a 2-hour presentation, reading, and short group writing exercise through the Maine Jung Center. It may deserve its own special announcement email in the coming days. I have a couple other posts in the works that are separate the usual Ode-transcription programming, so we’ll see how they all fit together! I have been hard at work making this June 6 (also the anniversary of Jung’s death) offering a comprehensive distillation of all I’ve learned from my experiences with and studies of inspired poetic transcription practice, the traditions that have carefully cultivated it as a mode of human expression. I would love for you all to join me in this exploration. I am also happy to offer free registration to those who have supported me over the years — just let me know you’re interested with an email and I’ll add you to the guest list. Hope to see you there✨
A short note for today’s Ode: this is my first transcribed while walking! Peripatetic ode. I wonder if the quality of movement comes through. It surprised me when it started coming through while on a treadmill incline walk at our local gym. I considered stepping off the machine, but opted instead to stay on and see if I could effectively record the ode while moving-in-place. A bit of a strange experience, but not impossible. A bit more embodied, perhaps? Walked into~ ] Received 5/14/2026 | 1:48-2:10pm
Companion Missive #32 - THEIR EYE, DRESSED IN DAISIES, IT FELL FROM THE SKY (11/27/2017)
Companion Missive #32.5 - A WORLD BECKONS ITSELF INTO BEING (1/31/2018)
Complimentary Missive #31 - ARCHITEXTU(R)AL INFRASTRUCTION (12/28/2023)
>[I didn’t offer missive companionship to Ode #31’s dream, I’ll give it here as a bonus, since A.I. is a classic of the Missive format and it is worth special mention! I suppose this 32nd Ode gets a three-to-one treatment. An upcoming post I’ve been working on will talk more about these Companion Missives and how I’ve been reading/understanding them]
Listen to the Recitation:
EVERY ELEMENT IS EMOTIONAL Stand in the wind and tell me it doesn't move you Stand barefeet on the earth Watch your house burn, ash floating with feeling Hammer metal to metal, sparks fly Travel through the woven fabric of aether, Between dreams where the recesses of love Live in the fairest flows Water takes us in its currents, of course Every element has its currents which take us Beyond, beyond — into the beyond Where something sleeps soundly, a wave Tidal precipice, precipitous weights counted For three treacheries, I will not go astray My words will hum with every aspect motive Motivating a depth of sentiment, mud Bathing until every static lingering loses Its pulse in the shuddering leaves, no longer Translucent, now a wall, oblique opacity Scintorial; I look up and see, something Moving again beyond the scope of my seeing It takes me with it, my heart, my thinking, my whole Knowing, I can not catch the whole of it A smile, perhaps — a smirking grin Is it deceiving me? Does it matter if it makes me Move again, to the sides of where I've been The game shakes, earth quakes my soles Upset, out of balance — I fall with the maple's First flowers, green bells scattering the ground With a heat raging within, quietly at first The clock cannot talk to me like them Silently swaying to me, in my belly gut contusion Intruding instigating, talk to me not of such silly things! I wish for the weight of the world to press against me Every mountain crush down upon me, breathless The gust fills my lungs at the end of its run A numinous ordinary essence rushes my blood platelets Scales covering my skin in armor, cinching Rings bend with me, untrusted uncorroded Look: the ants remind me to wake and work Together, together — we move together again Lines of hives mycorecipital, electric charge Differential equations, add the area to fix The infinite to the real: both curves and points Exist and do not exist, limits let us find through Something abstract into something enmeshed A body is not a body is a body I I breathe and press and pull and blow out Take in a rhythm, rhythmically — I cannot deny No part is unmoving to me: everything Everything moves me.
